Even without rerolls, halflings have almost 50% chance of succeeding a TTM attempt. Ogres are the second best, but instead of bone head, trees have. Halflings are by far the best TTM team, much better than goblins with their really stupid, always hungry loner trolls. They do allow you to foul before you've moved all your players however, which is often too risky without a bribe. Bribes are good, but not always neccessary.
Your main goal every drive should be to foul as many opponents as possible. +MA trees are also good, as are halflings with some general skills (like wrestle, tackle, strip ball and dirty player), though you still don't want too many of those. What you really want is a +AG halfling and block trees.

TV management is important, so don't be afraid of recycling halflings that have gotten bad levels, or even trees that start to become too expensive for what they're worth. Don't get too attached to your own players, even your trees. Also, taking root isn't the worst on offense, since you don't really want to score quickly anyway. You can reroll failed take roots pretty safely if they happen too early. Keep in mind that halfling trees don't have loner.
They're kinda like Khemri, except they can pick up the ball too! No other team is able to field 4 ST 6+ players at once though, which is the real strength of halflings. Against elves epsecially, Zara and Morg are probably better. Consider getting babes, bribes or an extra apothecary instead.įor star players, Deeproot is not always the best. Against teams with lots of skills (dwarfs, 1400+ elves, humans, skaven, 1700+ chaos, nurgle) it may not be worth it if they also have 3+ rerolls as they can usually survive decently on just 1 reroll per half (even 0 in some cases). You also have enough money to guarantee whatever you want later, such as more rerolls, apothecary and replacements.įor inducements, the chef is pretty decent for its price, but keep in mind that on average it only steals 1.5 rerolls per half. 2 trees, 10 halflings and 1 reroll is 600 TV, which is enough for a chef and deeproot against TV 1000 teams.

So, obviously luck has a lot to do with this, but I need to know if any Halfling coaches have tips or plays on how to play with the flings by themselves, or how to make the most use of trees in the turn or two they exist per drive? I really want to be able to have fun with these guys so I can justify buying an actual team, but I can't help but get frustrated at EVERYTHING failing.Īt low TV you can skimp on rerolls and a bench, since the chef will give you enough rerolls, and very few teams are actually good at removing halflings from the pitch because they all have dodge (unless you get really unlucky).

In my second game with them, the enemy human team took their one blitz per turn, and injured a little guy EACH TURN. I use rerolls (I usually have at least 4 a half Thanks to master chef) and STILL fail the take roots. in my first 4 games, both trees have taken root in the first or second turn of each drive, and if they get knocked over, refuse to stand up.

Obviously I will lose a lot more than win with the little buggers, but I have never rolled so many 1s in a series of games before. I have played a few games with them, but can't seem to get anything to go my way.
